Q: I am a foreigner here, if I want to adopt a child, what certificates and materials are needed?

The adopter shall provide the following certificates and materials:

In order to adopt a child in China, a foreigner should provide the following documents, issued by the government of his/her country or the adoption organization commissioned by the country government and authenticated by the diplomatic establishment (or the organization authorized by it) of that country and the Chinese embassy and consulate in that country, to the adoption center in China:

1) An application for intercountry adoption;

2) The birth certificate;

3) The certificate of marital status;

4) The certificate of vocation, income and of property condition;

5) The health check certificate;

6) The criminal record certificate;

7) The certificate of approving the intercountry adoption from the relevant authority of the adopter’s country; and

8) The report on the family situation.
