Application for
administrative license for transporting remains out of
Shanghai.
II. Service
Basis:
ˇ°Regulations of
Shanghai
Municipality on Funeral and
Intermentˇ± (promulgated on January 1,
1998)
III.
Qualifications
Relatives of the deceased
or units and individuals under the entrustment of the relatives of the deceased
shall apply for handling the procedures for transporting remains out of Shanghai
with the certificate of agreeing to accept the remains upon examination issued
by the civil affairs department above the county level with jurisdiction over
the place where the remains are intended to arrive, if any of the following
conditions is met:
(1) Non-Shanghai
residents die in Shanghai;
or
(2) The remains need to
be transported out of Shanghai due to other special
reasons.
IV. Application
Materials
(1) applicantˇŻs ID certificate;
(2) ˇ°Applicant Form for
Transporting Remains out of Shanghaiˇ± (the original
edition)
(3) ˇ°Certificate of Death
and Intermentˇ± issued by the public station of Shanghai; for those dying of
traffic accidents, the ˇ°Notice of Handling Remainsˇ± issued by the public
security department is required;
(4) the ˇ°Remains Acceptance Certificateˇ± issued by the civil
affairs bureau above the county level or the civil affairs funeral and interment
management authority with jurisdiction over the place where the deceased is
domiciled. The Certificate shall indicate the identity of the deceased and the
reason for transporting the remains to the place where the permanent household
of the deceased is registered. If the funeral parlor outside
Shanghai intends to receive the
remains in Shanghai, the letter of
introduction for receiving the remains issued by the funeral parlor shall also
be produced; and
(5) other proving materials.

Process
The applicant entrusts
the funeral parlor with remains transportation. ˇú The
applicant submits the application materials. ˇú The Service Department of the
Shanghai Funeral and Interment Administration accepts the application. ˇú The
Service Department of the Shanghai Funeral and Interment Administration decides
on examination and approval. The ˇ°Permit for Cross-province Remains
Transportationˇ± is issued for those approved to transport the remains out of
Shanghai.
VII. Time Limit for
Service
The Service Department of
the Shanghai Funeral and Interment Administration shall decide on examination
and approval within 20 working days.
