29-member Delegation from Institute of
Social Service Development, Hong
Kong, headed by Chairman Qiu Haobo and Vice Chairman Chen Shengguang, visited Shanghai from August 15 to 19 for
the ¡°Shanghai-Hong Kong Workshop on Social Work¡± held in
Shanghai. The delegation was
composed of senior social work supervisors, who have long been engaged in the
joint projects on social work in Dongguan, Shenzhen
and Guangdong.
On
August 17, Shanghai-Hong Kong Workshop on Social Work was officially held in
Shanghai. More than 80 people
were present at the Workshop, including the visiting delegation, leading
officials from Shanghai Association of Social Workers and the Division of
Vocational Social Work of Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, and some social workers
of Shanghai. Ye Xinghua, Deputy Chairman of Shanghai Association of Social
Workers and Chen Shengguan, Head of the visiting
delegation spoke at the Workshop. The Secretary-general of Shanghai Association
of Social Workers delivered a presentation on what Shanghai has been currently
doing in the area of social work, and delegates from Hong Kong introduced how
Hong Kong has assisted the inland regions in the development of social work and
how the ¡°Shenzhen Plan¡± has been implemented. In the afternoon, the social
workers from Shanghai and Hong Kong had a heated discussion on the three topics
of ¡°Career Planning for Social Workers¡±, ¡°Application and Implementation of the
Social Work Service Projects and Formulation-Enforcement of the Standard for
Social Work Service¡±, and ¡°The Helpful Interaction and Partnership among the
Government, Associations and Organizations¡±.
On
August 18, as part of the workshop program, the delegation paid visits to the
social work organization in Yanji
New
Residential
Area
Sub-district and Pudong Non-profit Service Park to have a better idea about
the social work programs in Shanghai. The delegation also
attended a dinner meeting, at which Ma Yili,
Director-general of Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, Fang Guoping, Deputy Director-general of Shanghai Civil Affairs
Bureau, Fang Shizhong, Deputy Governor of Jing¡¯an District and Chen Jingwei,
Vice Governor of Jing¡¯an District were present. An
intent agreement has been reached to promote the cooperation between social
organizations of Shanghai and
Hong Kong in the area of social
work.
