As a move to go in line with the Expo theme, “Better City, Better Life”, in addition to sending out the “Package of Expo Gift” to Shanghai citizens, Shanghai Municipality will further grant a lump-sum subsidy for some needy families and individuals during Expo period to improve their living standard. Following the decision and approval from the Municipality, altogether 9 government departments and organizations including Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and Shanghai Municipal Education Commission will implement the project called “Expo Caring Action”. The beneficiaries of the subsidy from Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau cover the regular entitled groups, recipients of special welfare support from civil affairs departments, and urban and rural families living on subsistence allowance. It’s estimated that the ongoing “Expo Caring Action” will benefit a number of over 5 million people (families).
