On 20 June, 2010, various districts and county, sub-districts and towns in Shanghai carried out activities to mark the Expo Community Voluntary Service Day. Ma Yili, Director-general of Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau (SCAB), Chen Zhenmin，Vice Director of Shanghai Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee Office and Fang Guoping, Vice Director-general of SCAB paid a special inspection visit to the activities in Pudong New Area, Xuhui District, East Nanjing Road Sub-district of Huangpu District and Quyang Sub-district of Hongkou District.

A total of 100,000 volunteers and over 2,000 teams formed of community volunteers took part in the activities, providing services of more than 30 categories for local residents, including service for the convenience of locals, publicity for the Expo, medical care, legal consultation, guide and information service, and charity fund-raising auction. Approximately 600,000 community residents gained benefits from the activities.
